- The Eastern Zhou chariot pitan entire horse-and-chariot burial, in situ
- Stone carvings galleryBuddhist steles from the Longmen area, better lit than the caves
Tickets and booking
How the ticket works, and what foreigners usually get wrong.
Before you buy
- Price. Free, advance booking required. Passport accepted at the desk.
- Booking. Free tickets require booking and the system asks for a Chinese ID. The desk to the left of the entrance handles passports, but only for the current day and only until the quota runs out — go at 09:00 opening, not at 15:00.
- Payment. Most Chinese sights take WeChat Pay or Alipay only. Cash works at staffed windows but not at self-service machines; a licensed guide can pay on your behalf and settle with you at the end of the day.
Getting there and when to go
In the new district south of the river, 15 minutes by car from the old town, 5 minutes from the high-speed station. Metro Line 2 to Citizen's Home, then 10 minutes walk.
09:00–17:00, last entry 16:30. Closed Mondays.. The first hour after opening is the quietest — tour groups arrive around 09:30. Late afternoon gives better light but the main viewpoints start clearing people out, so shoot early if that is your priority.
Public transport reaches Luoyang Museum, but connections and waiting times add up. With luggage, older travellers, or two sights in one day, a car and driver removes the guesswork.
