Before you buy
- Price. Included in the Yuntai Mountain ticket, CNY 120 (valid 2 days) plus CNY 60 for the internal shuttle, which is compulsory.
- Booking. This is the single most crowded place in Yuntai and the boardwalk is one-way. Groups arrive 09:30–11:00, so enter at 06:30 opening and you walk it alone. By 10:00 you are queuing on a 1.5 m wide walkway over water.
- Payment. Most Chinese sights take WeChat Pay or Alipay only. Cash works at staffed windows but not at self-service machines; a licensed guide can pay on your behalf and settle with you at the end of the day.
Getting there and when to go
Inside Yuntai Mountain scenic area, reached by the compulsory shuttle from the main gate. The gate is 40 minutes from Jiaozuo city by car.
06:30–18:30 (Apr–Oct), 07:00–17:30 (Nov–Mar).. The first hour after opening is the quietest — tour groups arrive around 09:30. Late afternoon gives better light but the main viewpoints start clearing people out, so shoot early if that is your priority.
Public transport reaches Red Stone Gorge (Hongshixia), but connections and waiting times add up. With luggage, older travellers, or two sights in one day, a car and driver removes the guesswork.
